Hospital Medical Staff Awards Scholarships

The JTD Hospital Foundation and the JTDMH Medical Staff announce that Brady Otten and Tyrel Fisher are the recipients of the 2018 JTDMH Medical Staff Scholarship.  Both Brady and Tyrel express an interest in rural health and providing medical care at a community hospital.

 

Brady Otten, from Coldwater, was awarded a $2,000 scholarship to further his studies at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine for the 2018-2019 school years.   Brady earned his Exercise Science degree from The Ohio State University. Brady states he has strong ties to the area and that his experience with the Grand Lake Health System as a “rewarding experience” that gave him a view of what his future might be like if he chose to return to the area after his residency. 

 

Tyrel Fisher, from Covington was also awarded a $2,000 scholarship to further his studies at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine for the 2018-2019 school years.  Tyrel graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Medicine. He did post Baccalaureate Pre Medical Program at Wright State University in Dayton. Tyrel describes himself as a country boy at heart. He has over 6,000 volunteer hours as a rural paramedic, EMT and firefighter. He has also worked for the Department of Health and Human Service’s Disaster Medical Assistance Team.

 

“The Foundation is an affiliate of Grand Lake Health System and has awarded over $221,000 in scholarships to area students perusing their education in medicine, nursing or other allied healthcare fields.” stated Linda Haines, Executive Director, “Scholarships are one of the most important programs the Foundation provides as we invest into the health care professionals needed to care for our community. We look forward to the possibility of these scholarship recipients returning to our area.”
